One of the most common nemoral species in western Palearctis. The single other species of the genus in this large area is our Transylvanian endemic Hepatica transsilvanica Fuss, which is said to be closely related to Hepatica henryi (Oliver) Steward rom China. In the eastern Palearctis, the species is represented by var. asiatica Schreb. and var. japonica which in our opinion are at least clearly distinct subspecies.

Between Moldovenesti and Pietroasa, Cluj county, on 28th of March 2010.
